CODE aims to provide a first-class dance experience and this begins with their teachers. Each staff member has a wealth of experience both personally as dancers and as teachers, ensuring that students receive training of an excellent standard.
All CODE teachers have valid WWCCs (Working With Children Check).
Bec Abelman - Principal:
Bec has been dancing since she was four, completing ATOD examinations in Ballet, Jazz and Tap and excelling in many competitions, performances and eisteddfods. After her schooling, Bec participated in the premiere KCDC Contemporary Dance Program in Israel. Since returning to Australia, Bec’s love of dance transformed into a passion for teaching, culminating in the founding of CODE.
As an ex-dancer herself and a qualified physiotherapist, Bec's major emphasis is on developing a strong foundation of dance technique. She recognises the importance of supporting students' talent and love for dance, and balances this with dancer safety and broader life skills. Bec’s strong technical knowledge combined with her calm approach to teaching enables her students to continuously build their technique whilst developing an appreciation for dance.
Bec has a Cert IV in Dance Teaching and Management, a Bachelor of Science (Science Scholars Program), Honours in Nutrition as well as a Doctor of Physiotherapy. Bec is currently working as a Dance Physiotherapist and Clinical Pilates Instructor and loves incorporating her knowledge of anatomy and exercise therapy into her dance teaching.
Natalya Esteves - Teacher:
Natalya has been dancing for seventeen years, training in Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Tap, Lyrical and Contemporary. Natalya is a seasoned competitor and performer, receiving outstanding results in state, national and international competitions. Natalya has also received exceptional results in Classical Ballet examinations as well as a dance scholarship. She has performed in many dance companies and shows and is trained in a range of exam syllabi including ATOD, Cecchetti, TAAD and BAL. Natalya’s diversity and love of all things dance is strongly reflected in her teaching. Natalya is known for her warm and open approach, enabling her students to develop their skills in an encouraging environment. Natalya has completed a Cert II in Dance, Cert IV in Dance and a Diploma of Musical Theatre at Spectrum Full Time Performing Arts.
Maddy Lipton - Teacher:
Maddy has been dancing for 17 years, training in a number of dance styles including Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Ballet and Acrobatics. Maddy has over ten years of experience performing and competing as a soloist and in Competition Crews and has received countless awards at both State and National competitions. Maddy has a Certificate II in Dance and has excelled in many Australian Teachers of Dancing (A.T.O.D.) Classical Ballet examinations. Maddy has completed three years of CODE’s Teacher Training program and has years of experience choreographing, student teaching and assisting classes in a range of dance genres. Maddy’s passion for helping her students to achieve their greatest potential along with her supportive approach to teaching motivates her students to develop their skills, love of dance and reach their personal best. She is currently completing a Bachelor of Psychology.
Hannah Cohen - Teacher:
Hannah’s love of dance began at the age of three when she started ballet while she was still living in New Zealand. Now with 16 years experience in competitive dance, Hannah has extensive training in styles such as Jazz, Lyrical, Ballet, Acrobatics, Contemporary and Hip Hop, as well as experience in Musical Theatre. Hannah has competed as a soloist and in competition troupes since she was eight years old and has competed both at a regional and state level, achieving excellent results. Hannah has trained in BBO Ballet, completed the ATOD Ballet syllabus exams up to Gold Bar and has additionally engaged in CODE’s Teacher Training program, practicing her skills as a student and cover teacher since the age of fourteen. Enthusiastic about nurturing students love and passion for dance, as well as their technique, and confidence, Hannah’s well rounded involvement with both classroom teaching and dance allows for her classes to be a motivating and enjoyable experience for all.
Tiahna Esteves - Teacher:
Tiahna has been dancing for fifteen years and has been trained in many dance styles including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip- Hop, Lyrical and Contemporary. From a very young age, Tiahna has been competing as a soloist and troupe member receiving many top awards both in Melbourne and Interstate. Tiahna has completed Ballet, Jazz and Tap dance exams in multiple syllabi including Cecchetti, TAAD, BAL and ATOD. Tiahna has been involved in CODE’s Teacher Training program for the past three years and she can’t wait to instil her passion and love of dance with her students. Tiahna has completed her Certificate II in Dance and is working towards pursuing a career in the Performing Arts industry.
Sarah Braham - Teacher:
Sarah has been dancing for thirteen years training in all genres of dance including: Jazz, Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Tap, Contemporary, Song and Dance, and Ballet. Sarah has completed a Certificate II in Dance and is trained in the Australian Teachers of Dancing (A.T.O.D.) Classical Ballet Syllabi. Sarah has also been involved in CODE’s Teacher Training Program for three years and has been involved in choreographing and student teaching for both competition crews and recreational classes. Sarah has many years of performance experience, competing in both Competition Crews and as a soloist at various state and national dance competitions. Sarah’s enthusiastic and passionate approach to teaching enables her to engage with her students, helping them feel supported and inspire them to learn and enjoy the art of dance.
Gabi Treger - Teacher:
Gabi has been dancing since she was 4 years old. She has trained in a number of dance styles including Ballet (including pointe work), Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary and Hip Hop. Gabi has completed ATOD Classical Ballet examination and participated numerous competitions both in solos and groups. Gabi has completed 4 years of CODE’s Teacher Training program which allowed for experience in choreographing, teaching and assisting in classes for a range of styles of dance. Gabi’s passionate approach to teaching and choreographing helps her to engage with her students and find the best way to connect to each student.
Amy Price - Teacher:
Amy is one of our distinguished alumni and has been dancing since the age of 5 in a range of styles including ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary and hip-hop. She has competed in many competitions over the years both in solos and in competition crews with CODE, receiving many trophies and awards. She was a part of our extensive teacher training program for 4 years where she learned how to create a fun and nurturing environment for students to develop their love of dance. Amy’s passionate and exciting approach to life comes through in her teaching and allows her students to feel supported and involved.
