Faculty

CODE aims to provide a first-class dance experience and this begins with their teachers. Each staff member has a wealth of experience both personally as dancers and as teachers, ensuring that students receive training of an excellent standard.

All CODE teachers have valid WWCCs (Working With Children Check).

Bec Abelman - Principal:

Bec has been dancing since she was four, completing ATOD examinations in Ballet, Jazz and Tap and excelling in many competitions, performances and eisteddfods. After her schooling, Bec participated in the premiere KCDC Contemporary Dance Program in Israel. Since returning to Australia, Bec’s love of dance transformed into a passion for teaching, culminating in the founding of CODE.

As an ex-dancer herself and a qualified physiotherapist, Bec's major emphasis is on developing a strong foundation of dance technique. She recognises the importance of supporting students' talent and love for dance, and balances this with dancer safety and broader life skills. Bec’s strong technical knowledge combined with her calm approach to teaching enables her students to continuously build their technique whilst developing an appreciation for dance.

Bec has a Cert IV in Dance Teaching and Management, a Bachelor of Science (Science Scholars Program), Honours in Nutrition as well as a Doctor of Physiotherapy. Bec is currently working as a Dance Physiotherapist and Clinical Pilates Instructor and loves incorporating her knowledge of anatomy and exercise therapy into her dance teaching.
